マックルモアー＆ライアン・ルイスの『アイリッシュ・セレブレーション』は、フェイスブックで紹介してもらった曲ですが、なんだか魂を揺さぶるような力を感じました。思わず日本語してみれば、その内容はまさに「アイルランド式言祝ぎの歌」。
歌っているのは米国人ラッパーのマックルモアーですが、その言葉からは自らのルーツであるアイルランドへの思いが溢れ出ています。彼自身の人生も、アルコールやドラッグの依存症から復帰したりと波瀾万丈のようですね。だからでしょうか、この歌には、アイリッシュの歴史というかリネージというか、なにか自分を越えて綿々と繋がってゆく永遠性への信仰表明が力強く歌われていると思います。
